Our Collective Framework
We are a collective of specialized therapists in the Rio Grande Valley united by a common mission - to increase equity in therapy and healthcare in South Texas. We believe all people deserve accessible and inclusive spaces in their community, and we are dedicated to decolonizing mental health and wellness in the borderlands. We are a primarily BIPOC collective with a cultural focus on Mexican American culture.
This means providing therapy that:
Acknowledges Latine values and the role they have in our community’s physical, spiritual, and mental health processes
Honors longstanding indigenous, xicanx folk medicine (curanderismo) and its contribution to our community’s perspective of health and wellness
Takes into account the history and lived experiences of individuals in the borderlands
Holds the space for others with honestly, understanding, care, patience, and empathy
Draws from humanistic, person-centered, and community-centered approaches to care
Advocates for social justice both inside and outside of the therapy room
Is centered in each client's individual needs and provides a safe space for growth, collaboration, creativity and hope
Empowers clients to connect with themselves, their support systems, and resources in their community
Mirroring our culture’s collective nature, we believe that we can best serve our community when we support each other. We commit to holding the space for each other and helping each other grow. It starts with us.
