RGV-MTWC is a private practice in the Rio Grande Valley that specializes in music therapy and recreational therapy. Our passion for the community is the foundation for everything we do and we aim to provide high quality treatment for clients in a variety of settings and with diverse health needs. We strive to create a supportive environment for our staff, centered in advocacy and resources.

Open Positions

  • A music therapist at RGV-MTWC provides high-quality therapy sessions to clients both in-facility and within the community. Music therapists, are responsible for assessing clients' needs, creating treatment plans, and implementing music-based interventions to help our clients improve their physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being. Music therapists have the opportunity to build their own schedule based on their desired number of direct clinical hours, location throughout the Rio Grande Valley, and specialized population(s).

    Music therapist must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in music therapy and a current, professional credential (MT-BC) recognized by the Certification Board for Music Therapists.

  • A recreational therapist at RGV-MTWC provides high-quality therapy sessions to clients both in-facility and within the community. Recreational therapists are responsible for assessing patients' needs, creating treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic activities to help our clients improve their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Recreational therapists have the opportunity to build their own schedule based on their desired number of direct clinical hours, location throughout the Rio Grande Valley, and specialized population(s).

    Recreational therapists must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in therapeutic recreational and a current, professional credential (CTRS or CTS/TXS) recognized by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreational Certification or Consortium for Therapeutic Recreation/Activities Certification.

  • An art therapist at RGV-MTWC provides high-quality therapy sessions to clients both in-facility and within the community. Therapists are responsible for assessing patients' needs, creating treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic activities to help our clients improve their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Therapists have the opportunity to build their own schedule based on their desired number of direct clinical hours, location throughout the Rio Grande Valley, and specialized population(s).

Therapist Job Responsibilities

  • Establishes positive, trusting rapport with patients.

  • Conducts client evaluations and creates individualized treatment plans according to clients’ needs and circumstances.

  • Provides routine therapy sessions and documents client progress accordingly 

  • Conducts ongoing assessments of clients progress.

  • Coordinates with multidisciplinary team members as needed  

  • Follows all safety protocols and maintains client confidentiality.

Therapist Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in their respective therapy fields (music therapy, recreational therapy, etc.)

  • A current professional credential (MT-BC, CTRS, TRS/TXC, ART)

  • Clinical experience is preferred, but not required

Work Schedule

We hire both part-time and full-time therapists for all positions. Our staff is encouraged to create their own work schedule, including the number of direct client hours worked per week and their availability for therapy sessions. We understand that each clinician has their own schedule and responsibilities; therefore, at the start of the position, we work with therapists on our team to create a schedule that works for them.

Hourly pay for therapist positions range from $40-60/direct clinical hour.

Work Location

Therapists on our team are offered opportunities to work with clients in diverse settings/clinical populations. Our therapist positions are typically a combination of in-facility, Telehealth, and community-based work locations.
